If you work for VIPKid, you probably know about this awesome hoodie. You see it in the educational training videos when learning about new types of classes. They used to be freely given to any teacher entering their 6th contract. Now, they run about $35, which is really not bad, as it's about the same price of a typical hoodie you would see in stores.
There was a teacher who ordered the hoodie and in place of it, received pots and pans! I think she got it in the end, but what a funny alternative. I will leave my YouTube link below of the unboxing of this awesome hoodie, where I do a little play off of this pan/hoodie unboxing situation. It's pretty entertaining, I must say! I was one of those that was like "meh" initially when it down to it. But then, a teacher had posted in one of the VK Facebook groups about it and so many people were saying they didn't care, and so on... Then I got to thinking. With each single contract, 6 months pass by, and this means I am to be entering my 3rd year with VIPKid! The only other job I had worked longer at had been my moms wonderful business - "The Organic Peddler & Peace of Art Cafe". Ultimately, I became privy to the fact that this was, in fact, a pretty big and awesome milestone for me and why not celebrate it with this pretty snazzy hoodie? Some things I learned about this hoodie that I did not know is it has VIPKid in Chinese, it has Dino on the back, and an awesome teacher friend (Rebekah Fogler) pointed out that it has pockets on the inside! This hoodie is AWESOME! Even though in the beginning I was uncertain about whether to get it or not, I truly could not be more happy with the decision of going for it! What a fun treasure to celebrate being with a company for 3 years and counting! 💖😊 Do you have the hoodie? What are your thoughts on it?

Hey everyone!
In these crazy times, I hope that all of you and your families are doing well and powering through. Recently, classes have started to slow way down with Outschool. There have been times where I have 0 or 1 student. Has this happened to you as well> Have you ever been in an Outschool class, and your student is not showing up, so you wonder to yourself... *What do I do? *Do I wait the whole time? *Do I just wait for 15 minutes, like with VIPKid? Well my friends, I have an answer for you! You are to wait 10 minutes. Once that 10 minutes has passed, end class and close that screen. Now what?! You can go into the classroom tab. Here, you write a comment saying something like: "Hello, I waited for 10 minutes and nobody showed, so I ended the class. I hope you and your family are well. I would love to have a class with you in the future, so please feel free to reschedule or check out my other classes. 😊 Many thanks, Teacher Kasey" You can either end it at that, or if you have extra time, you can go into the learners tab and basically say the same thing. Even copy and paste it. This way, the grown-ups and student can see that you did your best to reach them. I have a video on my YouTube Channel- ESL With a Gypsy Soul and a Unicorn Teachers podcast episode that covers all of this. If you are more visual, then go ahead and check out whichever you prefer in my links below. Best wishes and have an amazing week! You rock! 😊🦄⭐ Do you work for more than one company? If so, how do you make it work? I used to think working for two companies was a lot, but guess how many I am with now...? I'll give you a hint, it's more than four and less than six. You got it! I work for 5 online teaching companies! I know what you're thinking... This girl must have lost her mind! Somewhere along the way, I believe that may have happened in a sense, a least fragments of my mind- gone! So now, the burning question... "How on earth do you work for FIVE companies?" I will gladly let you in on how I piece that puzzle together. It did take some initial figuring out and before that, there were some double bookings. Oh no!! So, I definitely had to figure something out and fast! I am happy to share my personal secret on how to make this happen. You're welcome. 😉🤣 1. Work for one company in the earlier mornings (I am talking crazy early mornings, when pretty much everyone else is asleep). 2. Try for a different company in the evenings. 3. You have the opportunity to work during the day with a company that allows for this (like Outschool or Cambly). What a nice change from working solely in the early mornings and doing overnights! 4. There is the option to have a different company scheduled for the weekends. 5. Short notice can be an option! I know with VIPKid, you build your followers. If you have a decent following, this may boost your short notice bookings. Kaching! Bonus extra $2 per class when you have a short notice booking with VIPKid anyways! WOOHOO! 6. (Special BONUS tip because I care: relax and give yourself a much needed break every now and then. Your students will still be there when you get back!) Feel free to check out my YouTube video and my Podcast episode on this subject and if you feel that this could be helpful for someone you know, I would love for you to give it a share. I love helping others, and if there is something that can be done to help someone, by golly, I want to do all in my power to make it happen! Let me know your thoughts! Bloom's Taxonomy is a wonderful way that can help us to figure out the foundation of our lessons. Many teachers have worked in schools and have had lots of practice planning their own lessons, and that is awesome! If you are like me and have not had much experience with this, then Bloom's Taxonomy can truly benefit and help guide you through your lesson planning process. It can help serve as a framework for your lesson.
It's so great using Bloom's Taxonomy to revamp your Outschool lessons or lessons in general, if you work for a company or school and are planning all of your lessons. This is so beneficial and it certainly helps to add and gain clarity for your lessons and what your specific outcomes and expectations are. With Outschool, you can use Bloom's Taxonomy power verbs in your: 1. Summary 2. Course Description 3. Learning Goals (though this section is entirely optional, you don't have to complete this section.) The 6 main areas of Bloom's Taxonomy are: 1. Knowledge (power verbs: copy, define, identify, outline, locate, choose, distinguish, repeat, show, and record) ~Questions:~ Can you list (#) _____? / Which one ____? / How would you explain_____? Why did that happen? 2. Understand (power verbs: explain, retell, discuss, interpret, conclude, summarize, classify, infer, and expand on) ~Questions:~ Can you summarize____? / What's the main idea? Can you state that in your own words? 3. Apply (power verbs: interview, present, illustrate, calculate, solve, experiment, and determine) ~Questions:~ How can you show your understanding? / How can you apply what you've learned. 4. Analyze (power verbs: organize, sequence, determine, examine, debate, compare, contrast, and mind map) ~Questions:~ Why do you think___? / How are ___ and ____ related? / How are you able to classify ____? 5. Evaluate (power verbs: check, assess, conclude, reflect, hypothesize, role-play, revise, and critique) ~Questions:~ How would you change ____? / How can ___ be improved? / How can this be adapted to make it different? / If you could ___, what would you do? 6. Create (power verbs: imagine, invent, design, construct, plan, and compose) ~Questions:~ What can you recommend? In what way can you determine ____? What is your opinion of ____? In the links below, you will find an infographic that I created that is a wonderful visual to go along with Bloom's Taxonomy. Also, you can find my YouTube video and podcast episode where I talk about it as well. Happy Teaching! Hey Everyone!!
